Cost of living

We saw rental prices and thought that it would be so much more affordable than where we came from. Rent is, from what we found, but again, not nice inhabitable housing. Most I would not let a dog live in. However, cost of living? Absolutely crazy. Grocery prices are out of this world. We live in a tiny town, about two hours from a big town.  The first grocery store that we went to, to check out prices, has anything you could want to buy from canoes to groceries to guns, BUT the meat was old and green. 🤢 I WISH I was kidding. That one was in a neighboring town. We came to ours and although the selection is better (only occasionally green meat), the prices are astronomical.  Anything that we save in rent, we make up for in grocery prices. Not just groceries, but essentials at the hardware store, etc. Most things that we find are 30-50% higher than what we had available in other states. For instance a push lawnmower at Walmart where we came from was $199, here that exact same one was $78

RUDE snobby mean arrogant people

As mentioned in my second post, we had a hard time getting any realtors to speak to us. That was only the beginning. Most people that are born and raised here or have been here for any length of time, will not give you the time of day.  They act like they are the best and anyone that is not from here does not belong here and will be treated accordingly. We are very polite people, I’ve raised my kids with manners, to open the door for people, be kind, etc. My juvenile child has literally been reprimanded by adults simply for being kind and opening doors. I WISH this was a lie.  We get expressions constantly of people looking at us like we have three heads because we are different. We aren’t trying to change things so it is not that. If I planned to stay longer, I would definitely want to change that, though. Some things that we have been told by people from here… ”We are selfish with our Wyoming.”  “If you do not have a Wyoming license plate, you will get picked up for things that we wo

Inability to find housing fit for humans…

Issue #1…inability to find housing suitable for human use. The housing in the area that we moved to was not expensive, but initially impossible to find. Every realtor that we came across was pompous and unwilling to even talk to us (more on this in the next post).  We finally got hold of someone with a lot of rental properties willing to speak to us. He was a well known business person within the county in a job which only a respectable person should hold. He had a property available and let us go look at it. I cannot fully explain the shock when we walked in this “home”. It was tiny (no big deal), it did not look like it had been cleaned when the previous tenants moved out (there were still personal items in the bathroom and kitchen), the second “bedroom” was a tiny room with a trap door in the floor wherein you had to go down in to wash and dry your clothing. The trap door was at least half the size of this tiny “room” which was actually originally a tiny front porch/sun room. The ro

Why we moved to Wyoming

This blog post will be about WHY we moved to Wyoming to begin with.   The rest of the blog will be about why we are moving away from it as soon as possible. The why…I got a job promotion. The job was in Wyoming. We had visited the pretty places before…Jackson Hole, Grand Tetons, Yellowstone…and fell in love. We were gung ho. Literally our bucket list of a place to live was Wyoming or Montana. We had NO idea. Is it beautiful? Parts are, for sure. The parts that most people cannot afford to live in. Next page… #wyoming
