Cost of living

We saw rental prices and thought that it would be so much more affordable than where we came from. Rent is, from what we found, but again, not nice inhabitable housing. Most I would not let a dog live in.

However, cost of living? Absolutely crazy. Grocery prices are out of this world. We live in a tiny town, about two hours from a big town.

The first grocery store that we went to, to check out prices, has anything you could want to buy from canoes to groceries to guns, BUT the meat was old and green. 🤢 I WISH I was kidding. That one was in a neighboring town. We came to ours and although the selection is better (only occasionally green meat), the prices are astronomical.

Anything that we save in rent, we make up for in grocery prices. Not just groceries, but essentials at the hardware store, etc. Most things that we find are 30-50% higher than what we had available in other states. For instance a push lawnmower at Walmart where we came from was $199, here that exact same one was $789. I wish I was joking. A basketball for my kid that I’ve spent $10 on before, was $30 here. A gallon of milk is around $8.

Gas is crazy everywhere, of course, but it’s even more here. It takes a ton of gas to get ANYWHERE so that makes it even worse.
